The Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) organized a Guest lecture in EEC lecture series on the World Earth Day 2021. The whole world was in the grip of pandemic COVID-19. The lecture titled “Impact of Climate Change on Water Resources” was delivered by Dr. N.K. Goel, Professor of Hydrology, IIT Roorkee on 27th April, 2021 in virtual mode. The World Earth Day theme for this year “Restore Our Earth” brings attention to natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s vulnerable ecosystems. Water is a prime resource for the living systems. Dr. N. K. Goel explained the genesis and significance of the Earth Day. Causes and impacts of climate change on water resources, mitigation and adaptation measures were described in detail. He lucidly explained how children can contribute towards safe and clean environment. His lecture can be seen here.

Dr. (Mrs.) Malti Goel, Chief Executive and President, Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI), welcomed the participants to the webinar. She gave the background of Earth Day Celebration and said that change in climate is felt primarily through changes in water resources. She described direct and indirect impacts of climate change on water and explained the early acts on Control and Right over Water enacted in India during British Raj. Water conservation, water management and water recharge are critical issues in restoring earth resources.

On this occasion first issue of e-Magazine for Climate Change Forum for Youth in India (CCFYI) was released.
